What are the basic pros of having the JailHost functionality? What is 'JailHost', anyway?
It's not uncommon for a lot of users to use weak passwords considering that they are easier to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins which aren't updated for a long time. In either of these cases, it won't be hard for a hacker to take over the site and from there on to take control of other websites that may be hosted in the same account. In order to prevent such a scenario, we've added an innovative security option known as JailHost. It restricts the access that a script has solely to its own folder, so in the event that one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to access any other content part of your account, therefore the damage will be small. Needless to say, using JailHost doesn't substitute the security measures you should take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, still it'll enable you to limit the damage to one site only.

JailHost in Shared Hosting
In case you host your websites within a
shared hosting account from our company, you can protect them using the JailHost option with just a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This feature is available with all packages and can be enabled for any folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have individual folders, so files for various websites never get mixed up like it regularly happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default as you could use scripts which require access to folders outside the primary site folder and this option can interfere with their correct operation, but securing all of the other folders is very simple. If any secured website gets hacked for whatever reason, we'll be able to recover it without delay since we will have multiple daily backup copies of your entire account and you will even be able to browse the available backups through Hepsia.

JailHost in Semi-dedicated Servers
JailHost is available with all our
semi-dedicated server packages, so if you host several websites, you can easily separate them from each other so as to keep them safe. This option has to be activated for each and every website and is not turned on by default, in order to avoid interference with scripts which need access to multiple folders inside the account. Enabling it for all other domains will take no more than several clicks inside the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. Unlike many other Control Panels, Hepsia doesn't place different Internet sites under the primary domain folder. Instead, every domain or subdomain has its very own folder, that makes it easier to control and secure all of your sites. In case that an Internet site in your account gets hacked, not only will your other websites remain untouched, but we can also recover the affected Internet site in no time as we will have multiple backup copies of your entire content.
